What Claude Code can do for a small business in the Philippines
This article explains what Claude Code is, what it can do for a small business in the Philippines, and what it should not do on its own. You will see five kinds of work, one worked example, and how to decide if your business is a fit.
Claude and Claude Code are Anthropic's products. I am an independent consultant. I set Claude Code up for businesses, and I am not affiliated with Anthropic.
What Claude Code is, in plain words
Most people know AI as a chat box. You type a question and read an answer. Claude Code is different. It works inside your computer and your files. It can open a spreadsheet, read a folder of documents, write a file, and run a task from start to finish.
That is the key difference. A chat box gives you text to copy and paste. Claude Code does the work and hands you the result.
It needs two things to be useful: access to the right files, and clear rules about how your business works. Giving it both is the setup. That is the part I do for you.
Five kinds of work it can take on
These are the kinds of work I set up. Each one is something a team usually does by hand, every week.
1. Reports that build themselves
Sales, inventory, finance and marketing reports often mean opening several files, copying numbers, and fixing the layout. Claude Code can read the same sources each time and build the report on a schedule. Your team opens a finished draft instead of an empty sheet.
2. Document work
Invoices, forms and contracts arrive as PDFs, photos or emails. Someone then types the details into a sheet or system. Claude Code can read the document and put the details where they belong. It can also flag the ones that look wrong, such as a missing date or a name that does not match your records.
3. Customer replies, drafted
Facebook messages, emails and website inquiries ask the same questions again and again. Claude Code can draft the reply using your own answers and tone. Your staff read the draft, change it if needed, and press send. The AI does not send on its own.
4. Internal tools
Some businesses run on a shared spreadsheet that everyone is afraid to touch. Claude Code can help build a small tracker, a simple dashboard or a form that fits how your team really works.
5. Work for software teams
If you have developers, Claude Code can review code, write tests, fix bugs and update documentation. A developer still reviews and approves the changes.
A worked example: a clinic's weekly paperwork
This is an illustration, not a client story. I am describing how it could work, so you can picture it.
Picture a small clinic in Davao. Every week, the front desk gathers the patient counts, checks supplier invoices, and answers the same questions on Facebook: opening hours, services, how to book.
With a setup, the work could look like this:
- Claude Code reads the week's records and drafts the summary report. A staff member checks it.
- It reads the supplier invoices and lists them in one sheet. A staff member checks any line it marked as unclear.
- It drafts replies to the common Facebook questions. The front desk reads each one and sends it.
The staff still do the thinking. What changes is that they start from a finished first draft instead of a blank page.
Because a clinic holds patient information, the data rules matter even more. I cover that in Is my data safe with AI?. If your case involves sensitive records, ask a lawyer about your specific situation.
What it should not do on its own
A good setup has limits. Claude Code should not decide alone to send a message, pay a bill or delete a file.
My rule is simple: the AI drafts, and a person approves. Anything that sends, pays or deletes waits for a person. Every setup also lists what the AI may and may not touch. It gets the least access it needs, starting with read-only.
This matters under the Data Privacy Act of 2012 (RA 10173), and I sign an NDA before I see your data. The point is the same either way: you stay in control.
What it cannot promise
I do not promise a result before I have seen your work. Some tasks are a good fit. Others are not worth automating. That is why a setup starts with a paid discovery week. I map the work, measure how long it takes, and give you a written plan with the hours it could save. If the numbers do not work, you stop there.
Any figures about hours saved come from that measurement, not from a guess.
Which tasks are worth starting with
Start with work that has three things in common:
- It happens every week or every day.
- It follows rules a new staff member could learn in an afternoon.
- A mistake can be caught by a person before it matters.
Reports, invoice entry, and common customer questions usually fit. Work that needs judgment, trust or a personal relationship usually does not, and the AI should only help with the first draft there.
If you want a list to check your own business against, read 5 repeat tasks every Davao business can automate.
What a setup looks like
A setup is not a course and it is not a subscription to a tool. I build it on your computers, test it on a copy of your data, train your team, and hand it over. You own what I build. For the full list of what is included, see What a Claude Code setup includes.
Setup is priced per computer, meaning each laptop or desktop I set up. I share the amounts on the first call.
What to do next
- Write down the three tasks your team repeats most often. Note how long each takes.
- Mark the ones where a person could check a draft in a minute or two.
- If one or two stand out, apply for a discovery week. I read every application, and the next step is a short call.
You do not need to know what to automate before you apply. A short call is enough to find out if it is worth looking at.
